Throughout 2012 a team of crafty volunteers from around the Hastings met up to create a giant lifelike creature entirely from salvage. Grown from industrial offcuts, old teddies, advice from naturalists and hundreds of hours of delicate handwork, the result was…. Salvage Spider. An Orb Weaver of enormous proportions, it was suspended in a web hand spun from the innards of old stuffed toys, and loomed over the foyer of the Glasshouse, Port Macquarie as part of Summerfest 2013.
